Loved your story. I am really interested in old photos of the Amalfi Coast as my grandparents are from Lone, and family members still have residences there. Of course the houses look completely different now, as I was told they were separate rooms all built into the mountain, at that time. Can’t imagine what that looked like!
Hi Laura - great article, we stayed in Atrani for 10 days and spent a lot of time discovering the area both on foot and on the ferries! We walked almost daily into Amalfi via the tunnel and took those exact steps through the little restaurant garden area each time coming and going to Atrani. Was lovely to be drawn back to the beautiful Amalfi coast and our wonderful memories of such a stunning and breathtaking place - oh to be there again. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this, Denise. I love it when anything I can create taps into beautiful and happy memories like that. I hope you'll be back one day soon!
Hello Laura, I love your article and so happy to read about my favorite spot in the world. If you had to recommend an area on the Amalfi Coast to live, what would be your top spots? I've driven the Amalfi Coast several times and love, love, love it! My grandparents are from Positano and Vico Equense.
Thanks, Donna! Hmmm ... that's a tricky question since it depends on many things. I do love Amalfi and Atrani, but think that Minori and Maiori are also very livable year round. Ravello and Positano are a bit quiet off season for most people. Vico Equense is also very well situated on the other side of the peninsula.
Fabulous writing! I love the idea of following your curiosity and seeing what you discover. There's a quote by Dogen Zenji (a buddhist monk/teacher from the 1300s) "Time goes from present to past"
I feel like that fits right in with the beautiful quotes you used. Time is such an elusive and yet ever present experience.
I like this writing...gave me pause to consider warp and weft which I have not thought about in some time. Well done. Enjoyed and learned.
Thanks, Dad! I do so enjoy weaving a story.
I just loved this. Thank you
I very much enjoyed the story you wove!
I see what you did! :)

That's so lovely, Paula! I do wonder how the houses once looked inside, too.
Lovely read, thanks!
Fantastic. Is there a place in amalfi to see some of those pictures? Ok ok. I’ll sign up for your writing. I’m in.
Thanks, Eamon! Yes, in Amalfi you'd enjoy Dalla Carta Alla Cartolina. It's in a historic paper mill: https://www.ciaoamalfi.com/2019/09/dalla-carta-alla-cartolina-amalfi/

I love that quotation, Amber! Thank you so much for sharing it. Time has ever been elusive!
Thank you for this historic look of Almafi.
I just returned from a visit there in May.
I was astonished to find that you can take an elevator from the road down to the beach in Sorrento!
Such a beautiful place, but I felt guilty being a part of a throng that was overrunning the town.
I'll admire from away with your posts.
