Early this morning I made my way through the quiet Sunday morning streets of Amalfi hoping to beat both the crowds and the rain to cast my vote in Italy’s general election. A warm scirocco wind was blowing a sea storm in from the south. I was in luck with no wait time at all to vote, so this early bird stopped in Pasticceria Pansa to get a nodino - a pastry that is similar to a cornetto (croissant) but tied in a knot. Today the little pastries had a rich bluberry filling.
I made it home just before the first heavy rain drops began to fall. Rain is predicted for the next week, so it looks like I’ll finally be getting some use of the rainboots and jacket I bought for Scotland but (thankfully!) didn’t end up wearing. Autumn has arrived … with a lot of rain this year!
What are your Amalfi Coast questions?
As I mentioned in the September Ciao Amalfi newsletter, I’m turning this month’s Amalfi Coast chat over to you. I would love to hear what questions you have so I can answer them directly below or include them in next month’s chat. So … ask away!
What are you curious about?
What would you like to hear about more?
Planning a trip and have a question?
What do you want to know about living on the Amalfi Coast - or in Italy?
If you’re reading on Susbtack or in the app, you can just leave a comment below with your questions. Otherwise, reply to this email and I’ll add your question to the list. I look forward to hearing your questions!
Want to live in Italy?
I know living in Italy is a dream for so many, and I am sure there will be a lot of questions around that topic. I’ve lived here for 15 years, so I know it can be a big transition to make. If you love the idea of living in Italy, but aren’t able to or interested in being here full time, there are other options to explore.
One new one that I’m excited about is the Italy Perfect Shared co-ownership program. You buy a deeded share of a fully managed property and can enjoy it 4 weeks a year. That is, feel like you’re at home in Italy without having to deal with the worries of overseas homeownership.
Italy Perfect has just annouced their first property for sale in Florence and … it’s perfect! The Maestro is a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with an execellent location in the Oltrarno just about a block from the Ponte Vecchio. Take a look inside:
I’ve known and worked with the family-run vacation rental company Italy Perfect — and their sister companies Paris Perfect and London Perfect — since 2009. They love what they do and they do it exceptionally well. Reach out to Italy Perfect directly at sales@vacationperfect.com (or at the link below) for more information about the Maestro apartment in Florence or future Italy Perfect Shared opportunities.
Don’t forget to send me your Amalfi Coast and Italy questions!
Ciao from Amalfi,
Laura
Just wondering if you’ve ever tried Pasticceria Leona? We found it to much more warm and personal with excellent prices for an early morning espresso and croissant.
What are your suggestions for things to do when having all these days of rain?
